Iran’s drugs exports hundredfold in 15 years
EghtesadOnline: In the past 15 years, there has been a hundred-fold increase in the export of drugs, Head of Food and Drug Administration of Iran (IFDA) said.
Rasoul Dinarvand made the remarks in a ceremony held on Sunday to unveil Iranian made drug for quitting smoking called ‘Varenicline’.
“We aim at developing pharmaceutical industry while some $3b dollars of different kinds of drugs are being produced domestically and drugs worth $1b are being imported,” IRNA quoted him as saying.
“Drugs import had a fall of 500 million dollars in the last three years,” he said.
He emphasized that Iran is capable of boosting exports, saying that drug export was over $2m 15 years ago and now it has reached $200m.
During the event, the production line of cephalosporin suspension was also inaugurated with the attendance of Dinarvand and some other officials.
