Iraq to continue cooperation with Iran in fighting terrorism: Iraqi diplomat
EghtesadOnline: Iraq's Ambassador to Kuwait Alaa al-Hashimi said on Sunday his country would continue to cooperate with Iran on fighting terrorism.
Speaking to reporters, al-Hashemi said Iraq regards Iran as a neighboring and friendly country, IRNA reported.
Referring to 1,300 kilometers of joint borders between Iran and Iraq, the ambassador said that Iran has continued to support Baghdad since the fall of Ba’ath regime in Iraq.
He hailed the role of Iranian military advisors in training Iraqi forces to fight terrorist groups.
However, he ruled out the reports about presence of foreign forces in Iraq, saying Iraqi Army does not need the help of foreign forces and will fight terrorists with the help of Popular Mobilization Forces (al-Hashd al-Shaabi) and tribal forces.
