The ayatollah was referring to the three Iranian islands of lesser and greater Tunbs and Abu Musa.

He was reacting to unfounded accusations on the ownership of the three islansd levelled in the recent Arab League Summit meeting in Jordan, according to IRNA.

On Iran's ties with Russia, the ayatollah said Iran's Constitution has permitted establishment of relations with non-hostile countries and Russia is included in the category since Iran and Russia have convergence on foreign issues.

The senior cleric said, 'Iran’s doors are closed to the Zionist regime because it is a usurper regime and we never recognize usurpers; we also have no harmony with the hostile government of the US.'

Ayatollah Khatami also pointed to the second anniversary of Saudi Arabia attack against Yemen and by referring to great number of innocent people who have been killed and the enormous damage inflicted on the property, called on the Saudi Arabia government not to make its appaling record in Yemen worse than what it is.
