Tehran to host Asian Productivity Organization’s meeting

EghtesadOnline: Representatives from 19 countries will attend the APO’s Governing Body Meeting (GBM) in Tehran to finalize their 2017 and 2018 plans for stable productivity in Asia.

APO’s 59th GBM is to be held in Tehran for 3 days starting April 10.

According to Roya Tabatabaee Yazdi, director of the National Iranian Productivity Organization (NIPI), GBM is the supreme organ of the APO that is held annually in one of the member countries. She said that the attendees are from member countries accompanied by one or more advisors.

In the coming meeting, an observer from Pan-African Productivity Association will also attend the Tehran meeting. 

According to IRNA, Tabatabaee added Islamic Republic of Iran, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Taiwan, Japan, Thailand, Singapore, Sri Lanka, the Philippines, Fiji, Cambodia, Republic of Korea, Laos, Vietnam, India, APO director and 13 members of the APO Secretariat staff will attend the meeting. The meeting focuses on stable productivity.

Santhi Kanoktanaporn, Secretary- General of the APO, is to present an administrative and financial report of 2016. He will also hold a press conference.

As a sideline, the attendees will visit some tourist attractions in Tehran, e.g. Golestan Palace and Treasury of National Jewels.

The APO was formally founded with eight members: China, Japan, South Korea, Nepal, Pakistan, the Philippines, Thailand, and India. Iran joined the body in 1965.

APO’s mission is to participate in social and economic development and living quality in member countries.
