Rise in Shahid Rajaei Port Throughput
EghtesadOnline: Some 44 million tons of goods worth more than $11.14 billion were exported from and nearly 10 million tons worth $18.65 billion were imported to Iran via Shahid Rajaei Port in the southern province of Hormozgan last Iranian year (ended March 20, 2017), registering a 44% and 12% rise in tonnage and value respectively compared to the year before.
Moreover, some 5 million tons of cargos were transshipped at the port over the period. Shahid Rajaei Port earned over 122 trillion rials ($3.24 billion) in revenues last year. An advanced X-ray machine will be installed at the port in the near future, which can fast scan 150 containers per hour, facilitating customs formalities, Mehr News Agency reported. According to Managing Director of Ports and Maritime Organization of Iran Mohammad Saeednejad, Imam Khomeini and Shahid Rajaei ports in the south of the country account for 80% of the total throughput of Iranian ports, which is 140 million tons per year, according to Financial Tribune.
