Iran-Hungary call for urban cooperation
EghtesadOnline: Iranian ambassador to Hungary in a meeting with the mayor of Jászberény Tamas Szabo called for broadening of cooperation between the two countries’ cities.
Gholamali Rajabi-Yazdi pointed to the recent visit of Hungarian Deputy Prime Minister to Iran, and said that the situation is in favor of expanding constructive cooperation between cities of the two countries, according to IRNA.
“The time is ripe for increasing the cooperation between Jászberény and Yazd Province,' the Iranian envoy said in a meeting with Tamas Szabo on Wednesday, reminding the sister-city relationship between the Hungarian city and Yazd.
Welcoming Iranian ambassador’s proposals, Szabo confirmed the attempt in expanding cooperation with Yazd and declared his own and the Jaszbereny’s municipality for implementing the plans presented in the meeting.
The two officials agreed to take steps to encourage investments, giving technical and engineering services, using the credit line of Eximbank for importing and exporting products, holding trade meeting in Jászberény, dispatching business delegation from the Hungarian city to Iran and cooperating in agriculture and food industries.
They also discussed cooperation in cultural and educational fields, including offering courses of Persian cuisine at Jászberény university and holding joint photo exhibition.
Sport teams exchanges, holding friendly games in women’s soccer, basketball and volleyball, as well as winter games, were among other issues discussed in the meeting.
Municipality delegation from Jászberény visited Yazd last year, as the two have signed an agreement on the sister-city relationship.
