Iran, UNDP to increase cooperation for combating particle pollution
EghtesadOnline: The United Nations Development Program (UNDP), Foreign Ministry, Department of Environment and Forest Range and Watershed Management Organization (FRWO) will execute a joint program in the near future to control particle pollution, UN envoy to Iran said.
UN Resident Coordinator in Tehran Gary Lewis made the remarks in a ceremony held to celebrate the World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought on Saturday, according to IRNA.
There are several ways for controlling particle pollution in Iran and the region, the official added, noting that the program will help improvement of land vegetation by empowerment of local people in the framework of rural development committees.
Carbon sequestration project is now executed in 20 Iran provinces, Lewis noted.
The Carbon Sequestration Project (CSP) aims to sequester atmospheric carbon in arid and semi-arid areas of Iran and improve the socio-economic status of local communities.
