Iran, Croatia Sign Banking Agreement
EghtesadOnline: Iran and Croatia have signed an agreement on banking and payment arrangement, the minister of cooperatives, labor and social welfare announced.
“The governor of the Central Bank of Iran has delivered the finalized document of this agreement to the ministry,” Ali Rabiei was also quoted as saying by IBENA. The minister, who was speaking at a gathering of industrialists and traders in Croatia, referred to Iran’s unemployment problem. To tackle this dilemma, he added, the country needs to generate one million jobs per year, which requires $220 billion in annual investments. Therefore, with the aim of opening Iran toward foreign investments and creating new opportunities, “countries like Croatia are a priority for Iran and that is why we are ready to cooperate with the country in any field”. The minister noted that Iran is exploring new fields of joint action by engaging in widespread negotiations and to deepen the existing ties, the country is looking to expand ties and exchange information and knowhow with Croatia. Rabiei concluded by stating that development of Iran-Croatia ties would benefit both nations. Another such agreement on banking and payment arrangement was signed by the State Bank of Pakistan and CBI in Tehran in mid April. Riaz Riazuddin, deputy governor of SBP, and Gholamali Kamyab, CBI’s deputy for foreign exchange affairs, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective central banks, according to Financial Tribune.
