Iran may change certain drug executions to imprisonment

According to IRNA, the new law says that the drug criminals will be executed only if they have one of the following conditions: 

1.if the criminal uses a gun, or carries a gun to use against the law enforcement agents; 
2.if the criminal is the head of the criminal gang, supports them financially, is the investor, or uses minors to commit the crime;
3.if the criminal is already sentenced to death, life or more than 15 years of imprisonment;
4.if the criminals make, import, distribute, or sell drugs exceeding certain amounts specified in the related laws.

If the drug-related criminals do not have any of the above-mentioned conditions, they will receive a sentence from 1 to 30 years of imprisonment.
