Iran to Host Talks on Regional Railroad

EghtesadOnline: Representatives from regional countries are expected to meet within the next two months in Iran to discuss plans for a new regional railroad that would run through five countries: Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, China and Iran.

According to Afghanistan Railway Authority, 50% of the railroad will pass through Afghanistan, Afghan news portal Wadsam reported.

The authority added that technical and economic assessments of the first and second phases of the railroad in Afghanistan have been completed and construction work will kick off soon.

The 2,200-km-long railroad will cross through Afghanistan from Kunduz to Herat provinces, according to Financial Tribune.

The representatives will discuss the project’s problems and construction progress.
