Iran's shrimp returns to European markets

EghtesadOnline: Director General of the Quality Improvement, Processing and Sea Food Market Development at Iran Fisheries Organization Issa Golshahi says Iran's high quality shrimp has regained its status in European markets following expansion of international exchanges and financial give and takes.

Golshahi made the remarks on the sidelines of a seminar on fisheries exports.

He told IRNA that Iranian shrimp is of the highest quality in its kind and this year 17,000 tons of shrimp will be exported.

Golshahi went on to announce that last year, 15,000 tons of sea and farmed shrimp, worth $62 million, were exported.

He also said that over past few years, Iran exported Shrimp to Russia, Oman, Qatar, the UAE, two Southeast Asian countries of China and Vietnam. 

This year, Germany, Spain, the UK and France will be the exports destinations, according to the official.
