Iranian movie 'Kupal' becomes Best Film in Bogota
EghtesadOnline: Iranian director Kazem Mollaei's feature film 'Kupal' won the award for Best Film at Bogota International Film Festival in Colombia.
'Kupal', which was the only representative from Asia at the 34th Bogota International Film Festival, won the Golden Pre-Columbian Circle for Best Film, at its closing ceremony on October 28, IRNA reported.
Bogota International Film Festival, which started in 1984, is one of the most credited competitive festivals in South America; the festival is held in October every year.
The award was the third one for 'Kupal'; it had already won best film awards from Around Festival in Amsterdam and Brasov Film Festival in Canada. Mollaei's film is yet to compete in the main competition section of the 23rd Kolkata International Film Festival in India with 13 other films from other countries to receive the 72-thousand dollar prize.
'Kupal' narrates the story of Dr. Ahmad Kupal, a hunter and taxidermist, who faces an odd challenge, right before Noruz, the Iranian New Year.
A distinctive characteristic of the film is its concern about the environment and respecting animals' rights.
