Iran congratulates China on Lunar New Year

EghtesadOnline: Iran First Vice-President Eshaq Jahangiri in a message congratulated the Chinese people and the Prime Minister Li Keqiang on the commencement of the Chinese Lunar New Year.

In his message, released on Thursday, Jahangiri also expressed hope for Iran and China to further expand their mutual ties at the regional and international levels.

He also wished for reinforcement of all-out ties between the two countries, economic ties in particular, IRNA reported.

Jahangiri also wished for success and prosperity of Chinese government and people.

Chinese New Year, also known as the Spring Festival in modern China, often called the Lunar New Year in Asia, is an important Chinese festival celebrated at the turn of the traditional lunisolar Chinese calendar.

Celebrations traditionally run from the evening preceeding the first day, to the Lantern Festival on the 15th day of the first calendar month.
