Markazi Exports Earn $230m in 2 Months

EghtesadOnline: Markazi Province exported 247,775 tons of commodities worth $231.65 million during the first two months of the current fiscal year (started March 21), registering an increase of 22% and 64% in tonnage and value respectively compared year-on-year, the director general of the province’s customs administration said.

According to Mehdi Mir-Ashrafi, goods from Markazi Province were exported to 51 destinations, including Iraq, Afghanistan, Turkey, Pakistan, Bulgaria and Armenia, IRNA reported.

Exports mainly included hydrocarbons, linear low-density polyethylene, polypropylene, high-density polyethylene, fruit juice, glass, crystalware and potato chips.

A total of 16,715 tons of goods worth over $56 million were imported into the province during the same period, down by 16% in tonnage and up by 4% in value year-on-year, according to Financial Tribune.

Among the 35 exporters to Markazi Province were Greece, China, Italy, Germany, India and Turkey.

The imports mainly included machinery, fruit juice package, concentrate, puree, aluminum can and coil.

The provincial customs offices earned 115.89 billion rials ($2.75 million) in revenues during the period, indicating an increase of 43% YOY.

Markazi Province, consisting of 12 counties and home to 1.41 million people, is one of Iran’s major industrial and agricultural hubs.
