Tehran-Brasilia Agro Cooperation
EghtesadOnline: Brazil is among top exporters of basic agricultural products to Iran with the country purchasing about $780 million worth of corn, $565 million worth of meat and $280 million of sugar from the South American country in 2017.
According to Kaveh Zargaran, president of Agriculture Commission at Tehran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture, Brazil’s climate gives it the relative advantage to produce water-intensive commodities such as corn and meat in high volumes and export them at competitive prices to many countries, including Iran. At the recent 25th International Exhibition of Agricultural Industries, Food, Machinery and Related Industries, also known as “Agrofood 2018”, Brazil opened an exclusive pavilion in a ceremony attended by Iranian and Brazilian deputy agriculture ministers. At the event, domestic and international companies showcased their latest products and services related to agricultural industries, raw materials, horticultural equipment, irrigation systems, protein industries, prepared and semi-prepared food, processing industries and packaging machinery, according to Financial Tribune.
