Crocodiles Imported From Malaysia
EghtesadOnline: Iran received the first shipment of 80 live crocodiles from Malaysia on Sunday, Majid Taherpour, the director of Fisheries and Aquatic Affairs Department of Khorasan Razavi Agricultural Organization, said.
“They will be sent to the country’s only crocodile farm in Mashhad within a few days. These farmed crocodiles are imported under special conditions and will be kept in a protected environment,” he was quoted as saying by IRNA.
“Commercial crocodile farming is a profitable business, thanks to assured income from the export of the reptile’s skin and meat. The farm in Mashhad’s Molkabad has the capacity to produce 300 crocodile skins annually,” he added.
