Zionist regime's backers must be held to account
A senior Iranian in Geneva-based UN organizations has stressed that the Zionist regime's Western backers have to be held to account for inciting the regime to commit more crimes against Palestinians.
Mehdi Aliabadi. Deputy Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations Office in Geneva made the remarks while addressing the third session of 2024 session of the Conference on Disarmament on Tuesday.
He reiterated Iran's condemnation of the Zionist Israeli regime's accusations against Iran despite having a large arsenal of weapons of mass destruction (WMDs), noting that in September last year, the prime minister of the occupying Al-Quds regime threatened Iran with a nuclear attack, contrary to the international principles and rules.
Aliabadi further noted that it has been for seven decades now, the Israeli regime has been violating the basic rights and dignity of the Palestinian people with its policies and actions.
He went on to call on the international community to hold to account the countries that are an accomplice in the crimes committed by the Israeli regime and that supply it with deadly weapons and incite it to commit more crimes.
Referring to the failure of the international community to force the Israeli regime to comply with international law and end the occupation and aggressive behavior against the Palestinian people, the Iranian diplomat said that the continuation of these failures would be a green light for the regime to continue committing crimes against the people of Gaza.
The Iranian envoy once again reacted to the repeated claims leveled against Iran by the representative of the Zionist regime alleging that Iran supports jihadist groups in the region, and said that the root cause of the crisis in the region is the occupation and inhumane behavior of the Israeli regime in the past seven decades. Jihadi groups in this region do not take orders from the Islamic Republic of Iran, however, Iran cannot prevent the anger and resentment of the people of the region against oppression and occupation. / Mehr
