Expressing concern about the escalation of tensions along the border between Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan, Kanaani called for the peaceful settlement of conflicts.
The Iranian spokesman described dialogue and diplomacy as the sole way to ensure sustainable peace in the region, stressing the need to expedite the implementation of a peace agreement between Baku and Yerevan.
Armenia’s Defense Ministry said four soldiers were killed and one wounded on Tuesday in clashes with Azerbaijani troops in the southern Syunik region.
Azerbaijan said it carried out a “revenge operation” after one of its soldiers was wounded by Armenian fire in the same area of the border the previous day. / Tasnim
