Iran, Syria Discuss Regional Issues, Gaza Crisis
The president of Syria and Iran’s caretaker foreign minister talked about the latest developments in the region, particularly the situation in the Gaza Strip.
EghtesadOnline: In the meeting, held in Damascus on Tuesday, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and the Iranian caretaker minister discussed the relations between Syria and Iran, the latest developments in the occupied Palestinian territories, as well as the regional and international issues of mutual interest.
Assad reiterated that resisting the occupation in all its forms is a fundamental principle and a strategic choice as the resistance has always been on the right track in confronting the occupiers, SANA reported.
“Whenever the occupation approaches its failure in the face of the steadfastness of the resistance men, it increases its bloody violence”, the Syrian leader added.
For his part, the Iranian diplomat said the relations between the two countries will remain deeply rooted and strategic, as they are based upon firm principles and common interests.
Caretaker Foreign Minister of Iran Ali Baqeri traveled to Damascus on Tuesday after a trip to Beirut, where he met senior Lebanese officials, including Secretary General of Hezbollah resistance movement Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah. / Tasnim
