Lebanese parliament fails to reach quorum to elect president

EghtesadOnline: It is near two and a half years that Lebanon does not have president, members of parliament of Lebanon attending the formal session once again failed to reach the quorum to elect a president on Monday.

The 43rd parliament session to elect president was slated for Monday noon, but the MPs attending the parliament lacked a quorum to hold formal session and vote for a president, according to IRNA.

Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri announced that the next parliament session to elect the president will be held on September 7.

While Lebanon witnessed holding three days of national talks with participation of all the political parties, it seems that there is no consensus to elect president yet.

With the end of Michel Suleiman's tenure in 2014, the Lebanese parliament has not decided on the next president.
