Iran's Paralympic mixed archery team finishes 2nd in world

EghtesadOnline: Iranian Paralympic mixed archery team was defeated by China in final round of Rio 2016 recurve open mixed team competitions and finished second in the world.

Ebrahim Ranjbar and Zahra Nemati from Iran on Sunday captured silver medal of these rounds of competitions in Rio after being defeated by Chinese team, 3-5.

Meanwhile, Italy defeated Mongolia, 5-1 and became the third and finished with bronze medal, reports IRNA.

Iranian Paralympic mixed archery team, seeded first in the Rio 2016 recurve open mixed team competition, by securing a 6-0 aggregate triumph over Italian team in the semi-final round of the games.

According to the world archery official website, Rio 2016 marks the first Paralympic games to include mixed team events, featuring one man and one woman from the same discipline and same nation.

Iran's squad in Rio Paralympics Games consists of 111 athletes comprising 23 women and 88 men.

The 2016 Summer Paralympics, the fifteenth Summer Paralympics Games, are major international multi-sport event for athletes with disabilities governed by the International Paralympics Committee, being held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 7 September to 18 September 2016.

Over 4,500 athletes from 175 countries are attending the international event.
