Iran’s Paralympian sets new record in history
EghtesadOnline: Iran’s Siamand Rahman set a new world record by breaking 300kg and winning his second Paralympic gold in power-lifting.
According to the official website of IPC Powerlifting, Rahman recorded his name into the history books by breaking 300kg and winning gold in the men’s powerlifting heavyweight category. He is now the strongest Paralympian.
Rahman received gold at London 2012 with a 280kg lift. Two years later, he registered 285kg at the World Championships in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and 290kg at the Asian Para Games in Incheon, Korea, reports ISNA.
Rahman expressed his happiness and said “I feel very happy and proud for having broken the 300kg barrier and for being the strongest Paralympian in the world.”
“I want to be an inspiration for all people with impairment who stay at home and don’t lead an active life, and especially for the youth.”
The next World Championships will be held in Mexico.
