Zarif advises Saudi rulers to do away with short-sighted policies

EghtesadOnline: Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif hoped Saudi rulers would abandon their short-sighted policies and help kill the fire started by the Takfiri terrorists in the region soon.

Zarif made the remarks here Monday night during a joint press conference with his Lebanese counterpart Gebran Bassil after their meeting.

According to IRNA, he said Iran believed all Islamic and Arab countries in the region needed to cooperate to confront common threats.

He further praised the hospitality of Lebanese government and people and extended his congratulations to both over the victory of people and democracy in the elections.

Stressing that Iran and Lebanon were facing similar challenges, he said the threat of the Zionist regime is one which threatens not only the region but the whole world.

Noting that the whole region is glad about the fact that Lebanon had reached a wise conclusion, he hoped others could come to the conclusion that problems in the region like in Syria, Iraq or Yemen could be solved only through political solutions.

Besides common threats they share, Zarif stressed, Iran and Lebanon enjoy many common opportunities for economic cooperation in new international conditions.

The foreign minister further said that the Lebanese President Michel Aoun will be welcome to Iran anytime he wishes to visit the country.

Zarif arrived in Lebanon on Monday on a one-day visit.
