Larijani: Iran-Hungary trade requires facilitation of banking ties

EghtesadOnline: Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani said on Saturday that prerequisite for boosting Tehran-Budapest commercial ties is facilitating banking transactions.

Larijani made the remarks in a meeting with his Hungarian counterpart, Laszlo Kover.

According to IRNA, he said that Iran and Hungary have longstanding friendly relations and that their political and economic ties are currently at higher level.

Of course, trade fell down due to oppressive sanctions, he said, hoping that the Hungarian official's visit to Tehran would help augment economic cooperation.

Iran-Hungary Parliamentary Friendship Group formed indicating Iranian legislature's resolve to enhance level of ties with the Hungarian government.

Larijani said that memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed by the two countries to develop economic cooperation and that the deal encompasses major areas for commercial and economic cooperation.

Given the fact terrorism is increasing both in quality and quantity, one of the areas of cooperation can be consultation in fighting terrorism and extremism, Larijani said.

Kover, for his part, expressed pleasure to be the first Hungarian speaker to visit Tehran, saying that diplomatic shuttles will help promote friendly relations.

He further noted that Hungarian prime minister and parliament speaker's visit to Tehran signifies the country's resolve to promote friendly ties with Iran.

Elsewhere in his remarks, he said that terrorism has posed a big threat to Hungary and Europe.

Lauding Iran's role in fighting terrorism, he said that wrong policies of certain players promoted terrorism and insecurity in the region and its spread to the West.
