Iran urges Obama to veto bill asking for renewal of sanctions

EghtesadOnline: Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani said renewal of nuclear sanctions against Iran is a clear violation of the nuclear agreement.

Iranian official urged the US President to veto a bill passed by the country’s congress to renew the sanctions imposed on Iran, saying Iran would apply required actions if the sides of the agreement violate it, ISNA reported.

Earlier this month, the US Senate voted 99-0 to extend the Iran Sanctions Act (ISA) for ten more years.

The bill was passed by the House of Representatives nearly unanimously in November, and congressional aides said they expected US President Barack Obama would sign it.
