“I spoke with American officials over the full implementation of the deal and Iran’s role in the region, especially in Syria and Yemen. I told US officials that EU backs the full implementation of JCPOA and all sides need to comply with the accord,” Federica Mogherini said during the meeting of the United Nations Security Council.
“We are monitoring the implementation of the accord through the joint commission. International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has also confirmed in five reports that Iran complies with the JCPOA so all of us should adhere to our commitments particularly the related sanctions to nuclear activities,” ISNA quoted her as saying.
“The nuclear deal with Iran shows the way forward to us, the Europeans. It set a milestone for non-proliferation which makes the world safer. World powers negotiated the deal, and the agreement was immediately ratified by the Security Council so the deal now belongs to the entire international community not only to us who were in that room in Vienna,” said the top EU diplomat.
Elsewhere in her speech, Mogherini called on the US to keep funding UN agencies and remain committed to the climate change deal.
