FM Spokesman: Preserving regional peace, Iran's principled policy

EghtesadOnline: The principled and unchangeable policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran is to help preserve the peace, stability and security of the region, Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi said on Sunday.

Referring to recent remarks by the Jordanian king and his comments about the Islamic Republic's regional policies, Qasemi termed the remarks as being in contrast to realities and wishes of people and most countries of the region for durable peace and security, according to IRNA.

The Foreign Ministry spokesman also pointed to claims about 'Iranian Crescent' and 'Iran's intervention in the region', reiterating that such claims cannot negate or ignore the Islamic Republic's relentless efforts in the fight against terrorism or its role in establishing security.

Making such statements under such crucial conditions prevailing in the region can by no means guarantee the interests of regional governments and nations and only benefit the occupiers and aggressors that cannot tolerate to see calm, economic development, territorial integrity and sovereignty of the regional countries, he said.

As long as there is no serious will to detect the root causes of crises and tensions in this sensitive part of the world and as long as policies detrimental to the interests of people are adopted, there will be no bright horizon for a durable security and stability in the region, the spokesman said.

Recalling the new ideas proposed by the Islamic Republic of Iran on various occasions for creating a tension-free atmosphere in the region and setting up a forum for dialogue in the Persian Gulf, Qasemi said Iran has seized every opportunity to invite other countries to dialogue in a bid to prepare the ground for solving the problems of the region.

The Foreign Ministry spokesman made it clear that Iran's call for constructive dialogue, removing misunderstanding and beginning collective cooperation still stands and as before the Islamic Republic welcomes any positive proposals on strengthening regional peace and stability.
