Lebanon ready for promotion of economic cooperation with Iran

EghtesadOnline: Beirut welcomes removal of Iran’s sanctions and is ready to use the opportunity to boost economic cooperation with Tehran, visiting Lebanese Minister of Industry Hussein al-Hajj Hassan said.

According to IRNA, he made the remarks in a meeting with Vice President of Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Mines of Iran Pedram Soltani.

Al-Hajj Hassan welcomed removal of Iran’s sanctions and said that the two countries should use Tehran and Beirut as a hub for export of their products to the region.

Lebanon is ready to help export of Iranian commodities to Latin America, Europe and Africa, he added. 

The official referred to Iran’s scientific progresses, good geographical position and mineral resources and said there are good potentials for cooperation between Tehran and Beirut. 

Vice president of Iran’s Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Mines for his part said that Iranian private sector is keen to enhance ties with the foreign states including Lebanon.

He also urged inking preferential trade agreements between Iran and Lebanon and removal of obstacles on development of trade between the two states.

Iran can facilitate Lebanon’s access to the Central and Eastern countries of Asia and Lebanon can help access of Iran to Latin America, Europe and North African states, Soltani added.

Referring to current 50 million dollars of Iranian export to Lebanon and import of 10 to 15 million dollars from this county, he said that there are good potentials for joint investment between the two states in fields of oil, gas, petrochemicals, construction, food industry and tourism.
