Speaking in a local gathering, head of the board of directors of Roham Refinery Abdolrasould Mirzaei said several projects are underway for enhancing the recovery of oil reservoirs.

He added so far three advanced technologies have been entered in the country aimed at increasing the recovery of oil wells and reservoirs, according to IRNA.

Mirzaei underscored that the latest state-of-art technologies of the Norwegian Statoil Company are being utilized in the country's joint oil fields.

He added several storage tanks and terminals for exporting oil and petroleum products would be established in the country aimed at joining the facilities to North-South Transport Corridor (NSTC).

Mirzaei noted Iran is seeking to be connected to Georgia and Black Sea via NSTC.

He added the second phase of Roham Refinery would be constructed in Jolfa in the near future, adding once the project becomes operational it would refine 50,000 barrels of oil per day.

Mirzaei underscored that some $450 million worth of foreign investment needs to be made in construction of the second phase of the refinery.

The first phase of Roham Refinery would be inaugurated in a ceremony attended by a senior advisor to Iran's President Hassan Rouhani's Council of Iran's Free Trade, Industrial and Special Economic Zones, Akbar Torkan, and a number of Petroleum Ministry's officials in the northwestern Aras Free Trade Zone today (Sept 19).
