Iranian Minister of Roads and Urban Development Abbas Akhoundi met with the Netherlands’ Minister of Infrastructure and Environment, Melanie Schultz van Haegen-Maas Geesteranus. They signed MoU seeking cooperation on marine transport projects as well as mutual investment in various relevant sectors, according to ISNA.

Both sides expressed readiness to expand mutual ties in marine projects, hoping the agreements could pave the ground for further cooperation in other areas.

Elsewhere, Dutch minister earlier held talks with Iranian Energy Minister Hamid Chitchian and signed another MoU on construction of a solar power plant in the country.

Iranian minister had noted that environmental issues, water management and generation of electricity for industrial and agricultural uses could be potent areas of cooperation between the two countries.

Van Haegen for her part said, “Signing such memoranda of understandings will help both countries cooperate in the fields of water and electricity.”
