“Malaria” international touring continues

Shahbazi’s film, after touring different international festivals, will go on Screen at Paris International Film Festival this time.

Malaria is a 2016 Iranian drama film directed by Parviz Shahbazi. It was premiered in the Horizons section at the 73rd edition of the Venice Film Festival, and also later won the Grand Prix at the 2016 Warsaw International Film Festival, ISNA reported.

It narrates the story of a young woman who elopes with her boyfriend to spend her time in the company of a band of street musicians in Tehran, and then a lot of incidents come by.

Malaria is Shahbazi’s third work focusing on Iranian youngsters after the 2003 film Deep Breath.

“I’ve been making films about Iranian youth for 13 years.I live with the youngsters, keep track of them and focus on their behavior. My inspiration is the society around me, some of the details that you see in this film came from real personalities and lives, “said Shahbazi earlier on his popular movie.
