EghtesadOnline: Head of the Strategic Research Center of the Expediency Council, Ali-Akbar Velayati, on Thursday warned against infiltration of foreigners into the region, hoping that Karabakh dispute will be settled fairly.

“We are not happy to see Karabakh issue overshadowing Armenia-Azerbaijan relations and we hope it will be settled fairly,” Velayati told Armenian Defense Minister Vigen Sargsyan in Tehran.

He also underlined awareness against aliens’ war mongering in the region, according to IRNA.

Velayati added, “We are aware of certain cases of Zionist regime’s interferences in the region. We should be alert and watchful of infiltration of certain foreign elements, including Zionist regime and be careful foreigners will not wage war in our region.”

He announced, “We hope to be able to witness mediation between Armenia and Azerbaijan and recourse of Iran-Armenia engagements to the past historical record.”

Iran’s Cooperation with Armenia and Russia is a model of regional cooperation, which can continue like the past.

Sargsyan, congratulating his host on the anniversary of victory of Islamic Revolution, said volume of cooperation between Iran and Armenia and common challenges, that the two countries are facing, are good reasons for interaction between the two sides.

He also announced that Armenian prime minister is to visit Iran soon.
Sargsyan arrived in Tehran on Monday evening at the invitation of his Iranian counterpart, General Hossein Dehqan.

He already met with Majlis Speaker, Ali Larijani, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, Ali Shamkhani, and Foreign Minister, Mohammad-Javad Zarif, with whom he discussed issues of mutual interests.
