Health Sector Registers Highest PPI Inflation in Iran

EghtesadOnline: The inflation rate registered by the health sector’s Producer Price Index grew by 0.3% in the Iranian month of Farvardin (March 21-April 20) compared with the same month of last year to hit 17.4%, recording the biggest increase in the prices of domestic goods, services and construction.

The Central Bank of Iran’s data show the year-on-year PPI inflation of the education sector was 11.3% last month, hospitality 11.5%, construction 10.6%, information and telecommunications 6.9%, transportation and storage 4.7%, agriculture, forestry and fishing 6.9% and other public, social and personal services 11%.

The average PPI in the 12 months ending April 20 increased by 5.4% compared with last year’s corresponding period.

CBI put the preceding month’s PPI inflation at 5%. A year-on-year increase of 9.2% was registered in the index compared with the similar month of last year, Financial Tribune reported.

PPI (using Iranian year to March 2012) stood at 236.3 in Farvardin, indicating a 0.4% growth compared with the previous month.
