New Khuzestan Railroad Under Construction
EghtesadOnline: Construction work on a 140-kilometer railroad in Khuzestan Province will start as soon as next month, the southern province’s governor general, Gholamreza Shariati, has announced.
The new 3-trillion-rial ($80.4 million) railroad will connect the city of Khorramshahr to the port of Bandar Emam Khomeini, Mehr News Agency reported. Shariati noted that the railroad will facilitate goods transit to and from Iraq and promote the development of Khuzestan’s coastal regions. Preliminary studies estimate the project will be completed in two to three years, Financial Tribune reported.
