Carpet Expo to Open in Tehran

The event, organized and sponsored by Iran National Carpet Center, is one of the world’s most important and biggest events in the field of handmade carpets. Last year, visitors from South Africa, Japan, Croatia, Brazil, India, Germany, Denmark, Serbia, Romania, Uruguay, Russia, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, UAE, China, Kuwait and Sweden participated in this exhibition. Iran is the biggest exporter of hand-woven carpets and holds a 30% share in the global handmade carpet trade. It exported $89 million worth of handmade carpets during the four months to July 22, indicating a 7.3% rise compared with last year’s corresponding period, Financial Tribune reported.
