MP calls for launching Tehran-Pretoria direct flight

EghtesadOnline: Head of parliamentary friendship group of Iran-South Africa Salman Khodadadi and the Ambassador of South Africa of Iran William Max Whitehead met on Monday.

In the meeting, the two sides discussed removing banking obstacles, establishment of direct flights between Tehran and Pretoria as well as execution of signed agreements and using existing economic capacities between Iran and South Africa.

According to IRNA, Khodadadi pointed to the growing trend of communication between the two countries in different arena of politico-economic and culture.

He said the recent visit of South African parliament speaker to Iran indicated interests between the two parliaments to promote mutual cooperation.

The Iranian MP said establishment of parliamentary friendship groups between the two states facilitates communications and effective in execution of signed agreements.

He underlined the continuation of consultations and meetings between senior political officials as well as parliamentary deputies on international and regional issues.

Whitehead appreciated Iranian government and nation supports for South African people during Apartheid and said that the two nations have common goals, which are suitable ground for development of friendly ties.

He said that cooperation between developing countries in international community causes strengthening and consolidating prowess of them in global arena.
