Iraq has been the second biggest importer of Iranian goods and services in the first half of the Iranian calendar year (starting on March 20, 2017), Hamid Hosseini said in a press conference on recent developments in Iraq.

Except the ban on fuel transfer to and from the Iraqi Kurdistan Region following recent developments, no problem has occurred on the way of exporting Iranian goods to its western neighboring state, according to IRNA.

Iran has banned fuel products consignment heading to or coming from the Iraqi Kurdistan Region since September 27, upon an order issued by the country's General Office of Border Affairs and Passive Defense.

The order was issued two days after a referendum was held in the Iraqi Kurdistan Region despite opposition of Iraq's federal government.

Iran and major European countries a well as international organizations also strongly opposed to the referendum, stressing that it destabilizes the region at a time when all sides are still fighting against Daesh terrorists.

According to Hosseeini the Iranian exports to Iraq increased due to Daesh's defeats and improvement of the economic conditions in that country.

Hosseini added that Iran's main exports to Iraq include construction materials, liquid fuel, refinery and petrochemical products, and food.
