Iranian film festival kicks off in Australia

EghtesadOnline: The 7th Iranian Film Festival Australia, putting on display 11 feature films from Iran, has started in Australia.

The Iranian films, selected from amongst the stars of the Iranian silver screen, will be displayed in six cities across Australia, according to IRNA.

According to the festival's official website, the timings of the event are as follows: 

Oct 26, 2017 – Oct 30, 2017: Melbourne: ACMI - Federation Square
Nov 2, 2017 – Nov 5, 2017: Brisbane: New Farm Cinemas
Nov 9, 2017 – Nov 12, 2017: Sydney: Event Cinemas Top Ryde
Nov 10, 2017 – Nov 12, 2017: Adelaide: Mercury Cinema
Nov 16, 2017 – Nov 19, 2017: Perth: Event Cinemas Inaloo
Nov 18, 2017 – Nov 19, 2017: Canberra: Arc Cinema NFSA

The feature films to be displayed include: Subdued (Rag-e Khaab) (2017), by Hamid Nematollah; The Girls House (Khaneye dokhtar) - 2015, by Shahram Shah Hosseini; Blockage (Sad-e mabar) (2017), by Mohsen Gharaei; Breath (Nafas) (2016), by Narges Abyar; Israfil (2017), by Ida Panahandeh; Negar (2017), by Rambod Javan; The Home (Ev) (2017), by Asghar Yousefinejad; Walking on String (Rah Raftan Rooye Sim)(2017), by Ahmadreza Motamedi; Leila (1997) (Retrospective), by Dariush Mehrju; and Yellow (Zard) (2017), by Moastafa Taghizad'h.

'Leila' will be accompanied by Take Me Home (2017), Abbas Kiarostami's final short film.

The Official website of the festival wrote, 'Now in its seventh year, Iranian Film Festival Australia is the only nationwide Australian festival dedicated to Iranian cinema and forging cultural understanding between Iran and Australia.'
