Imam Khomeini Port Throughput Grows 12%

EghtesadOnline: More than 7.2 million tons of oil and non-oil commodities were loaded and unloaded at Imam Khomeini Port in the southern Khuzestan Province during the first two months of the current Iranian year (March 21-May 21), which shows a 12% growth compared with the corresponding period of last Year, the director general of the province’s Ports and Maritime Organization said.

“Non-oil loading and unloading amounted to close to 4.65 million tons, registering a 10% rise year-on-year. Oil throughput stood at more than 3.03 million tons, indicating a 15% increase YOY,” Adel Deris was also quoted as saying by the news portal of the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development.

Deris added that 555,115 tons of goods were transported from the port via railroad, which shows a 14% rise YOY.  With an annual capacity of 55 million tons, Imam Khomeini Port is Iran’s second largest port after Shahid Rajaee, according to Financial Tribune.
