Iran's Trade With India Tops $2b in 5 Months

EghtesadOnline: Iran traded 4.71 million tons of non-oil commodities worth $2.18 billion with India during the first five months of the current fiscal year (March 21-Aug. 22).

This registers a 12.19% and 10.67% decline in tonnage and value respectively compared with last year’s corresponding period, latest data released by the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration show. Iran’s exports to India stood at 3.80 million tons worth $987.06 million, down 10.01% and 14.03% in tonnage and value respectively year-on-year. India was Iran’s fifth major export destination during the period. Iran mainly exported urea, methanol and liquefied propane to India during the five-month period. India exported 911,154 tons of goods worth $1.20 billion to Iran, down 20.25% and 7.70% in tonnage and value respectively YOY. India was the fourth exporter of goods to Iran over the five months. The imports mainly included rice, aluminum oxide and graphite electrodes used in furnaces, according to Financial Tribune.
