This comes as, according to data released by the Statistical Center of Iran, Qom Province posted the lowest month-on-month inflation of 1.8% last month.
The overall CPI, using the Iranian year to March 2017 as the base year, stood at 337.8 in the same month, indicating a 3.2% rise compared with the previous month.
Ilam’s goods and services consumer inflation registered a rise of 53.4% during the month ending Aug. 22 compared with the similar month of the year before, the highest among all provinces.
The year-on-year CPI growth was the lowest for Qom with 40.9%, compared with that of other Iranian provinces. The overall goods and services CPI in Iran registered a year-on-year increase of 43.2% in the same month.
The average goods and services CPI in Iran for the 12-month period ending Aug. 22 increased by 45.2% compared with last year’s corresponding period. Kurdestan saw the highest average annual inflation with 51.4% while Qom posted the lowest of 40.9%.
Urban Households
The overall CPI calculated for urban areas stood at 334.1 during the fifth month of the current Iranian year, indicating a 3.2% rise compared with the previous month. The growth in CPI measured for provincial urban households compared with the previous month was the highest (4.6%) for Fars while Qom recorded the lowest monthly inflation growth of 1.8% compared with other provinces.
The index registered an average year-on-year increase of 42.4% for urban areas. Goods and services CPI of Ilam’s urban areas registered a year-on-year rise of 52.3% during the month under review, the highest among all provinces. The CPI increase in urban areas was the lowest for Tehran with 37.4% YOY.
The average CPI in urban areas for the 12-month period increased by 44.5% compared with last year’s corresponding period. Households living in urban areas of Ilam saw the highest annual inflation (44.5%) while those of Qom witnessed the lowest annual inflation (40.8%) among all Iranian provinces.
Rural Households
The overall CPI calculated for rural areas stood at 358.1 in the month under review, which indicates a 3.2% increase compared with the previous month.
The growth in CPI of rural households compared with the previous month was highest for Kohgilouyeh-Boyerahmad with 5.8%. This is while rural households living in Kurdestan saw a 1.7% increase in the prices of goods and services compared with the month before, the lowest rate compared with other provinces.
The index registered an average year-on-year increase of 47.7% for rural areas in the same month. CPI of Ilam’s rural areas registered a YOY increase of 58.4% during the fifth month of the Iranian year, the highest among all provinces, whereas the year-on-year CPI increase was the lowest for Semnan with 39.3% compared with other provincial rural areas.
The goods and services CPI of rural areas in the 12-month period increased by 48.7% compared with last year’s corresponding period. Kermanshah registered the highest annual inflation in rural areas (54.4%) while Tehran posted the lowest annual inflation (42.6%).
cTehran
The average goods and services CPI in the 12-month period ending Aug. 22 for Tehran Province wherein lies the capital city increased by 41.8% compared with the corresponding period of last year.
SCI had put Tehran’s average annual inflation rate for the preceding Iranian month, which ended on July 22, at 41.7%.
The consumer inflation for the month under review registered an increase of 37.6% compared with the similar month of the previous Iranian year. The year-on-year inflation of the preceding month was 37.7%.
The overall CPI (using the Iranian year to March 2017 as the base year) of Tehran Province stood at 338.6 in the period under review, indicating a 3.1% rise compared with the month before. Month-on-month consumer inflation was 4.1% for the preceding month.
SCI put urban and rural areas of Tehran Province’s 12-month inflation for the month under review at 41.8% and 42.6%, respectively.
CPI registered a year-on-year increase of 37.4% for urban areas and 42.2% for rural areas in the month under review.
The overall CPI reached 338.4 for urban households and 347.5 for rural households, indicating a month-on-month increase of 3.1% for urban areas and 3.2% for rural areas.
