“Polystyrenes, cheese, cement, iodine, iron pipes, paint, dates and tomato paste were our main exports,” Hossein Tolouian was also quoted as saying by Mizan Online.
The official said exports over the five months under review were shipped to 25 countries, with Turkmenistan, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Bulgaria and Afghanistan topping the list.
“Lately, with the foray of rival countries into Golestan Province’s main export destinations, competition has intensified and has caused problems in the way of exports for local businesses in Golestan. What we need is that provincial and national officials ease regulations and support domestic businesses,” he added.
Director General of Golestan Province’s Veterinary Organization Gholamreza Mehrabi said on September 11 that the province has exported poultry products to 15 countries in the current fiscal year (started March 21) despite the Covid-19 pandemic.
The 15 export destinations of Golestan’s poultry products are Iraq, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Turkey, Thailand, Afghanistan, Qatar, the UAE, Turkmenistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Russia.
“This year, 518,000 kilograms of chicken offal, 4.01 million kilograms of chicken feet, 2.41 million edible eggs, 49,000 kilograms of meat powder, 1.98 million kilograms of aquatic feed and nutritional supplements, as well as 316,017 kilograms of dairy products produced by Golestan factories were exported,” Mehrabi was quoted as saying by IRNA.
Golestan is one of the 31 provinces of Iran located in the northeast of the country and south of the Caspian Sea.
A total of 37,173 billion rials ($137 million) were invested by the private sector in Golestan Province during the five months under review, according to a local official.
“With these investments, 12,430 jobs will be created in various sectors of agriculture, tourism and industry in the northern province,” Ebrahim Karimi was also quoted as saying by IRNA.
A total of 267,000 tons of commodities worth $112 million were exported from Golestan’s border crossings in the last Iranian year (March 2020-21), showing a 25% and 19% decline in weight and value respectively compared with the year before.
