Completion of the Second Heyran Tunnel Requires 4 Trillion Rials in Funding
The Governor of Ardabil announced that, with the project of the second Heyran tunnel 70% complete and 3 trillion rials already spent, an additional 4 trillion rials is needed to complete and operationalize this project on the Ardabil-Astara route.
EghtesadOnline: Masoud Emami Yeganeh, the Governor of Ardabil, stated during a visit to the second Heyran tunnel project that the progress of this plan is approximately 70% and added: "An additional 4 trillion rials is required to complete this tunnel."
He continued: "This tunnel, which is 2,714 meters long, includes 740 meters of tunnel, 64 meters of gallery, and the remainder consists of the walls along the route. With the efforts of the local contractor, there is an option for emergency use during specific times."
Emami Yeganeh emphasized the strategic importance of the Ardabil-Astara route and stated: "Completing the second Heyran tunnel will not only reduce traffic congestion but also contribute to the development of this important route. However, weather conditions and cold temperatures prolong construction projects in the province."
This project is part of the infrastructural development of Ardabil province alongside other plans such as the Ardabil-Miyana railway. The Ardabil-Miyana railway project, consisting of 12 operational sections, includes 27 kilometers of tunnels and is considered one of the most challenging railway projects in the country, currently in its final stages.
