Iran Resolved to Hold Aggressors Accountable

The Iranian foreign minister expressed the country’s determination to defend itself and hold aggressors accountable after the Israeli regime and the US initiated an unprovoked war of aggression against Iran.

Abbas Araqchi and his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov held a meeting on the sidelines of the 17th BRICS summit in Brazil on Sunday.

The two top diplomats reviewed the relations between Tehran and Moscow and discussed the regional developments following the aggression committed by the Zionist regime and the United States against Iran.

Referring to the consequences and implications of the Israeli and US acts of aggression, Araqchi reaffirmed Iran’s determination to defend itself with strength and to hold the aggressors accountable.

He further highlighted the grave blow inflicted by this act of aggression on the principles and purposes of the United Nations Charter, on diplomacy, and on the non-proliferation regime, the Foreign Ministry’s website reported.

Araqchi emphasized the responsibility of the UN Security Council and all states to fulfill their obligations in safeguarding international peace and security.

For his part, Lavrov underscored Russia’s position in condemning the unlawful attacks against Iran, including the strikes on Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities.

He stressed the importance of taking the necessary measures to prevent further escalation and instability in the region.

Lavrov also expressed Russia’s readiness to assist in this regard, including at the level of the UN Security Council.
