Iran, IAEA to Discuss New Format of Cooperation

Iran’s ambassador to Vienna-based international organizations announced plans for a new round of talks with the International Atomic Energy Agency aimed at defining a fresh framework for cooperation between Tehran and the UN nuclear watchdog.
In an interview with IRIB, Reza Najafi said a delegation representing Iran will hold a new round of negotiations with the IAEA officials.
He said the talks will focus on defining the new format of cooperation between Iran and the UN nuclear agency.
Iran’s ambassador to the UN office and other international organizations in Vienna stated that the upcoming meeting will be held at the level of experts.
On Wednesday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said Tehran will not provide any new cooperation with the IAEA before the conclusion of negotiations.
“In view of these developments, how and under what framework Iran and the IAEA should cooperate is a matter under negotiation, and in fact, the Agency itself has agreed that new developments require a new framework of cooperation,” Araqchi said in comments quoted by IRNA.
“No new cooperation will be there until the negotiations are concluded,” he stressed.
The foreign minister stressed that Iran “will do everything” to prevent the re-imposition of UN sanctions under the snapback mechanism./tasnim
