Iraq praises Iran’s support, hopes for closer ties

The President of Iraq’s National Defense University praised the unwavering support and assistance of Iran for Iraq and expressed hope that the amicable ties between the two countries will be further expanded in future.
Chief of Staff of the Iraqi Army & the President of Iraq’s National Defense University Lieutenant General Aqil Mustafa Mahdi met and held talks with the head Command and Staff University of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Army (DAFOS) in Tehran on Monday.
During the meeting, Lieutenant General Aqil Mustafa Mahdi said that the relations between two friendly and neighboring countries are historical which have increased favorably in the recent years and it is hoped that the amicable ties between the two countries will be further expanded in future.
Iraqi nation will never forget the unwavering support and assistance of Iran, he said, adding, “We are very happy that Iraqi officers are studying and graduating from the Command and Staff University of the Islamic Republic of Iran Army.”
Head of Command and Staff University of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Army (DAFOS) Brigadier General Hossein Valivand Zamani, for his part, stated that Iran has established very close cooperation and interaction with Iraq and is vehemently interested in developing it.
