Iran sees great potential to broaden ties with Azerbaijan

Kazem Gharibabadi, Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, wrote on X (formerly Twitter) that he met with Khalaf Khalafov, Special Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on Monday.

He said that during the meeting, a wide range of issues were discussed, including bilateral relations, cooperation in the Caspian Sea, the importance of peace and stability in the South Caucasus region, and collaboration within the framework of Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia(CICA).

Gharibabadi noted that both sides believe there is significant potential to expand cooperation between the two countries in various fields. He added that shared religious, cultural, and neighborhood ties, along with the strong will of senior officials in both nations, provide valuable assets that should be utilized to achieve common interests and goals.

He further emphasized that both parties agree the best way to address differences or misunderstandings—common among neighboring countries—is through good-faith dialogue aimed at removing obstacles to the comprehensive development of relations./mehr
