VP: Iran Ready for Harsh Military Response to Enemy

Iran is fully prepared to repel any new act of aggression, Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref said, warning that the Iranian Armed Forces will deliver a harsher slap than before to any aggressor if provoked.

News ID: 2002083

In comments on Tuesday, Aref said the Iranian administration has developed plans for both normal and exceptional circumstances.

“If the enemy takes any act of mischief again, we have plans for that situation and are fully prepared. The Armed Forces will deal an even harsher slap to the enemy. We have prepared the necessary plans and are not worried about any mistake by the enemy,” the vice president added.

Referring to the activation of the snapback mechanism of the 2015 nuclear deal by the three European countries, Aref said their action lacks any legal or juridical basis, as Iran had already given them an ultimatum in 2016 and 2017 that if they failed to uphold the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, Iran would also suspend its commitments.

The vice president added that Tehran is not concerned about any action taken under the pretext of the snapback mechanism, noting that Iran has already passed the stage of circumventing sanctions.

While acknowledging that sanctions have consequences, Aref said their effects must be mitigated through internal measures and effective domestic management./tasnim
