Iraqi Figure Meets Iran’s FM for Post-Election Consultations
In a meeting focusing on closer regional ties, senior Iraqi politician Seyed Mohsen Hakim met with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi in Tehran to brief him on Iraq’s recent parliamentary elections and explore ways to expand bilateral cooperation.
Hakim, a senior adviser to Seyed Ammar al-Hakim and deputy head of Iraq’s National Wisdom Movement, met on Saturday with Araqchi during a visit to Tehran for political consultations.
In the talks, Hakim provided a detailed overview of the conduct and outcome of Iraq’s recent elections, expressing gratitude for Iran’s supportive stance toward both the Iraqi government and its people.
He also emphasized that Baghdad values Tehran’s continued engagement and backing during this pivotal period.
Araqchi, for his part, congratulated Iraq on the peaceful and successful administration of the parliamentary vote, calling it a testament to the Iraqi people’s determination to shape their political future.
He stressed that the rapid formation of a new Iraqi government would reinforce the positive momentum generated by the high turnout.
