Afghanistan must be included in regional integration process

Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi says that neighboring Afghanistan has to be integrated into the region without the presence of foreign intervention.

"The developments in Afghanistan have a direct impact on the security and interests of neighboring countries," Araghchi said in an interview with Iranian journalists on the sidelines of a Tehran-hosted meeting of Afghanistan's neighbors on Sunday.

"The solution to Afghanistan's problems is possible without the intervention of extra-regional actors," he added.

"Afghanistan is a very important country and its people have extraordinary potentials and capabilities," the top Iranian diplomat added.

Araghchi further said today about the first meeting of special representatives of Afghanistan's neighboring countries plus Russia in Tehran that, "We believe that Afghanistan must be included in a process of integration with the region, and this will be in the interest of Afghanistan and the countries of the region."/mehr
